KINGSTON Jamaica — Tropical Strom Sandy is expected to intensify to a hurricane by the time it makes landfall along the south coast of Jamaica tomorrow.

The Met Service says the storm was about 300 miles southwest of Kingston at 10:00am today and that it should strengthen further as it approaches the island.

TS Sandy is expected to move south to north across the island sometime tomorrow.

Heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected. Additionally, strong winds will accompany the system.

Small craft operators are being advised to remain in safe harbor until all warning messages have been lifted and sea conditions return to normal.
