Schools stay closed today
Thursday, October 25, 2012
SCHOOLS will remain closed today following the passage of Hurricane Sandy, the Ministry of Education said last night.
The ministry's director of communications Sheryl Bromfield told the Jamaica Observer that schools, which were closed yesterday, will remain closed while they are inspected for damage.
"Building officers and education officers will be inspecting institutions to assess the damage done to them. After that, a determination will be made as to whether schools will reopen on Friday," she said.
Bromfield also noted that many schools are being used as emergency shelters for persons affected by the hurricane.
