Seaview mom, daughter on drug rap get bail

Friday, February 08, 2013

A mother and daughter who were reportedly held with $272-million worth of ganja were offered bail in the sum of $300,000 when they appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.

Mae Dixon, 59, and her 28-year-old daughter Dianne Earnacles are facing charges of possession, dealing in, taking preparatory steps to export ganja, and conspiracy.

Both women hugged each other as they were led away in handcuffs after being offered bail.

Dixon and Earnacles were arrested when a team from the Transnational Crime and Narcotics Division raided their home in Seaview Gardens, St Andrew, on January 12 and 115 pounds of hash oil allegedly found.

The contraband was reportedly found in a bathroom that both women shared.

The prosecution file is incomplete, as is awaiting the forensic certificate to continue the matter.

The two are to reappear in court on March 21 by which time the forensic certificate should be ready.
