Security guard and customer fight in supermarket over juice
A security guard and a supermarket customer both found themselves on the wrong side of the law after they reportedly engaged in a fight at a supermarket, which started after the customer’s friend drank a box of juice while shopping in the supermarket.
The customer, Christopher Powell, and the security guard, Clinton Lewis, are both charged with malicious destruction of property and assault occasioning bodily harm.
The court heard that on the day in question Powell and his friend went to the supermarket in Half-Way-Tree, St Andrew, when the friend took up the juice and consumed it in the supermarket.
Lewis reportedly went over to them and spoke to the friend and an argument began, which resulted in a fight.
Allegations are that Lewis grabbed Powell by his shirt and started to hit him and Powell retaliated.
Powell’s work shirt was reportedly damaged while damage was reportedly done to Lewis’s trousers, shirt and a watch.
Last Friday when they appeared in court both agreed that they would like for the matter to be sent to mediation when the judge offered them that option. As a result, both bails were extended for them to go to the Dispute Resolution Centre and to return to court on February 28.
