Senior cop acquitted in Boulevard murder case

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jurors in the trial of three policemen charged for the murder of two men in December 2004 retuned a not guilty verdict for one of the cops this afternoon.
Assistant Superintendent Victor Barrett was acquitted in the Home Circuit Court after deliberations lasting over five hours.
Justice Horace Marsh however sent the jurors back to reconsider the verdict against the two other cops.
ASP Barrett, Corporal Louis Lynch, and Constable Paul Edwards were tried in the Home Circuit Court for the murder of two men — Kemar Walters and Oliver Duncan — who were allegedly abducted from the Washington Plaza, along Washington Boulevard in St Andrew, on December 23, 2004. Walters and Duncan were allegedly shot to death after being taken from the plaza
