Smart to face court today

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Dwayne Smart, the police corporal who shot and killed a pregnant woman in St Thomas in September, will appear in court today.

Smart is charged with the shooting death of eight-month pregnant Kay-Ann Lamont at Yallahs Square in the parish.

He is also charged with illegal possession of a firearm, wounding with intent and assault.

Lamont’s sister was also shot and injured after she attempted to assist Kay-Ann.

Lamont was reportedly shot during a brawl with Smart who tried to arrest her for using indecent language.
