Soldiers block vote fraud attempt in NW Clarendon

EXCEPT for a man who tried to vote in someone else’s name, there were no incidents at Frankfield Primary School, one of the polling stations in the Clarendon North Western constituency.

The ineligible voter was turned away by one of several Jamaica Defence Force soldiers, who maintained a tight presence at the location. According to Estelyn Taylor, one of two Citizens Action for Free and Fair Elections (CAFFE) representatives, voting has been going smoothly but quietly.

“It has been good, we don’t have any problems. It’s slow, but it’s quiet,” she said.

Approximately 40 of the 262 persons registered to vote have turned up thus far, Taylor said.
