Spanish Town house destroyed by fire

KINGSTON, Jamaica — A four bedroom house was destroyed by fire of unknown origin in Spanish Town this morning.

The police say that the owner of the house called them after smoke woke her at about 1:20am.

The police summoned the Spanish Town Fire Department and although the blaze was extinguished, loss of $12 million was suffered.

Neither the building nor its contents were insured. The police are investigating.
