St Catherine women fined for stealing water
Friday, July 06, 2012 | 5:11 PM
TWO St Catherine women have been convicted for trespassing on the works of the National Water Commission (NWC).
Stencase Williams and Althea Nembhard of Patrick Street, Old Harbour, on June 22, were fined for the illegal act in the Old Harbour Resident Magistrate’s Court.
The fines come as the NWC steps up its drive to reduce the number of illegal connections encroaching on the company’s infrastructure.
The NWC is reminding the public that it is illegal to trespass on its water and wastewater systems and that “the full force of law” will be applied to all persons found guilty of illegal connections.
The NWC also pointed out that continued improvement in water and wastewater services can only be done if the persons who receive the service pay their water supply bill on time and in full.
