St Thomas cop on murder charge remanded

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Dwayne Smart, the police corporal who shot and killed a pregnant woman in St Thomas, was on Friday remanded into police custody when he appeared in the Home Circuit Court.
He will next return to Court on November 2.
Smart is charged with murder in the September shooting death of eight-month pregnant St Thomas resident Kay-Ann Lamont.
Lamont was killed in the Yallahs Square, and her sister shot and injured following a tussle with the cop who attempted to arrest her for using indecent language in his presence.
