Ground broken for Jonathan Stewart Library Media Centre at Campion
Sunday, July 03, 2011
ALUMNI, present students and wellwishers gathered at Campion College Wednesday last for the ground-breaking ceremony of the Jonathan Stewart Library Media Centre.
The state-of-the-art learning facility is being erected in honour of Campion graduate, the late Jonathan Stewart, whose father, Gordon 'Butch' Stewart — Chairman of Sandals Resorts International and the Jamaica Observer Limited — and family are the main benefactors of the project, investing some US$350,000 (JA$25,750,000) towards construction costs.
An additional US$740,000 (JA$62,900,000) was raised under the school's Vision 20/20 campaign through various donations to offset infrastructure, equipment and furnishing costs. We share the highlights from the ground-breaking event.
