Street Scenes - October 3

Wednesday, October 03, 2012

HEAVY rains lashed the island on the weekend, causing widespread flooding and damage, including to the road network. Jamaica Observer Senior Photographer Michael Gordon captured some scenes in the aftermath on Monday.

WALL DOWN

A woman walks past what is left of a retaining wall, which collapsed during Sunday night's heavy rains, on Spanish Town Road in Kingston.

OBSTACLE COURSE

Huge potholes which opened up, and in some cases widened, during the heavy rains, proved a major hindrance for motorists using parts of Maxfield Avenue, St Andrew.

LIVING ON THE EDGE

The occupants of this house in Drumblair Close in St Andrew are living on the edge, literally. The house is threatened by the continual

erosion of the Sandy Gully banks — a situation which was worsened during the weekend rains.
