Suitcase baby probe findings today

THE findings of a probe into whether the Child Development Agency (CDA) was negligent in the case involving a two-year-old who was found dead in a suitcase are to be released today.
Director of Programmes at the CDA, Audrey Budhi, said yesterday that the investigation into the operations of the CDA in the case had been completed.
The decomposing remains of Jeshurun Warren were found in a suitcase on January 15 at his home on Chisolm Avenue, St Andrew.
The body was discovered after residents stormed the house after failing to get satisfactory answers for months from his parents regarding his whereabouts.
The parents, Alphanso and Stephanie Warren, were subsequently arrested and charged.
Meanwhile, the residents had blasted the CDA over what they called negligence in responding to their concerns in a timely manner.
They claimed that CDA received complaints that there was a problem at the house weeks before the child’s body was found.
Budhi said the organisation was planning to intensify a campaign to educate parents and adults about playing a more responsible role in protecting the island's children.
She said the move was necessary as children continued to suffer because of the unwillingness of adults in the communities to look out for the welfare of the most vulnerable.
