TAJ still having problems printing motor vehicle titles
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Sources at the Tax Administration of Jamaica (TAJ) have confirmed that the agency is still having issues as it regards to the issuance of motor vehicles titles.
“There is indeed an issue with the issuance of motor vehicle titles in the island”, the source told OBSERVER ONLINE, adding that the agency will make available information regarding the matter to the public momentarily.
The TAJ sent out a news release in December advising the public that delays may be experienced in obtaining a motor vehicle title.
This morning however, reports reaching OBSERVER ONLINE are that the problem has still not been solved. One man complained that he has been trying to sell his motor vehicle since July and, up till now, is unable to receive a title, which he claims has been there since March 2016.
TAJ sources confirmed that the organisation has been experiencing problems before December but could not state specific month it started.
The delays, TAJ explained in December, are as a result of technical difficulties being encountered with the printing of the titles. The TAJ had advised individuals requiring a motor vehicle title to conduct transactions with a financial institution to contact the Tax Office where the application was made.
