The gun still the weapon of choice for Jamaican killers

KINGSTON, Jamaica — THE gun is still the weapon used in most murders committed in Jamaica.
According to statistics released by the police 67.4 per cent (451) of all persons killed in the first seven months of the year were victims of the gun. Seven more people were both shot and stabbed to death.
A total of 99 persons, (16.1 per cent) were victims of knife attacks while 29 persons were chopped to death.
Implements specified by the police as 'other' were used to commit 64 murders.
