Thursday, August 09, 2012 | 4:44 PM
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Meteorological Service has issued a Thunderstorm Warning effective until 7:00 pm.
A Thunderstorm Warning means that severe thunderstorm activity has been reported or will occur shortly. Frequent lightning and squalls will occur. Take precautionary measures now.
Satellite imagery and radar reports indicate large thunderstorms offshore Jamaica’s east coast and is expected to move onshore eastern and northwestern parishes. This area of thunderstorms is associated with a Tropical Wave moving across the island and is likely to produce heavy showers and strong gusty winds.
The Meteorological Service will continue to monitor the situation.
