Tredegar update: Seven persons in custody

EIGHT statements have so far been collected by detectives investigating the eight murders which took place recently in Tredegar Park, Spanish Town St Catherine.
Seven persons are now in police custody including the two arrested in Westmoreland and one in Kingston Central Police Division. These seven persons will be placed on identification parades during the course of this week. They will also be further questioned with their lawyers this week.
Residents of Tredegar Park said that early morning on Friday August 13 about 20 armed men, dressed in dark-coloured clothing, invaded sections of the community known as Monkey Town and Backbush where they opened fire on several homes, then set fire to some.
Four persons each from two families were killed. The victims from one family were 11-year-old Alexifia Anderson; her mother Hopelin Dennis, 43; her sister Nekfifa Anderson, 23; and her brother Joel Anderson.
The other family lost Eldon Heron, 60; his son, Eldon Heron Jnr, 38; Gary Stewart, 22; and Orrett Miller, 26. Another male was also hospitalised in serious condition for gunshot wounds.
The Police are again asking persons with information to call Operation Kingfish at 811 and Crime Stop at 311.
