Tropical Storm Kirk develops in Atlantic

KINGSTON, Jamaica - Tropical storm Kirk developed in the Atlantic  last night.

At 4:00 am the centre of Tropical Storm Kirk was located near Latitude 24.3 degrees North and Longitude 45.3 degrees west or about 1,965 kilometres east-northeast of the northern Lesser Antilles, the Meteorological Service reported this morning.

Kirk is moving towards the west-northwest near 15 km/h. A turn to the northwest is expected during the next couple of days.

Some strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours, however Kirk is not a threat to Jamaica.
