Troupe freed of gun charges

Son slapped with three-year sentence

MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica — Deputy Mayor of Montego Bay Michael Troupe, has been exonerated  of charges of illegal possession when he appeared in the Western Regional Gun Curt earlier today.

However, his son Jevaughn, who pled guilty to illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition last week was sentenced to two years in prison at hard labour for possession of the firearm

Additionally the younger Troupe was fined $2 million for the possession of ammunition. 

Failure to pay the fine will see him serving an additional three years prison term.
