PORTLAND, Jamaica — The three-year-old boy, who perished in a fire on Friday in Orange Bay, Portland, has been identified.
He is Germaine Williams.
Reports are that about 12:00 pm the youngster was allegedly playing inside an outdoor kitchen, also used as a storeroom, when the door apparently slammed.
Fire was seen coming from the building later on.
It is alleged that the mother tried to assist and got burnt and was taken to the Annotto Bay Hospital.
When firefighters got to the location the building, which was a wooden structure, was engulfed with flames. After the blaze was extinguished, the charred remains of Germaine were found in the rubble.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
