ST ANDREW, Jamaica – Two houses have been destroyed by fire that broke out today in the Craig Hill area of St Andrew, just above Gordon Town.
OBSERVER ONLINE understands that soldiers and members of the Jamaica Fire Brigade are currently on the scene fighting the blaze and assisting fire victims.
The blaze is believed to be part of the fire that broke out in the Mavis Bank area last Saturday, which later spread to Flamstead District and adjoining communities.
Yesterday, the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) had advised that the fire was under control.
However, Norman Grant, President of the Jamaica Agricultural Society this morning reported that the fire broke out in the Craig Hill community.
The fire has so far devastated more than 400 acres of land in the areas of Mavis Bank and Flamstead.
