UWI invites new students to experience MY UWI LIFE
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The University of the West Indies (UWI), St Augustine Campus, Trinidad, has announced its official 2012 orientation programme carded for August 29th, August 30th and September 1st, at the UWI Sports and Physical Education Centre (SPEC) in that country.
Rebranded as the First Year Experience (FYE) and themed MY UWI LIFE, this year’s edition encourages students to embrace the tenets of LIFE – Learn, Imagine, Focus, Engage – which will help them succeed throughout their academic careers, the university said in a release.
The first event UWI Life Support will be held on Wednesday 29th August, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, and is geared toward the parents, guardians and spouses of all first-year students.
Since student’s success relies on a strong support system, this event, which includes a Q&A segment with the Campus management team, is meant to establish a preliminary relationship between the support network and the university, and equip them to better assist their students as they make the transition into university life, the release said.
All first-year and first-time undergraduate students will be welcomed to the Campus at UWI Life Student, on Thursday 30th August, from 9:00am to 3:00pm. This all-day event, aims to help students make a smooth changeover from secondary school to university life. The day will be feature various activities — games, giveaways and live entertainment — and opportunities to meet the Principal, Deputy Principal and Deans.
