Valuable experience for STETHS students at MOAS in Washington

SANTA CRUZ, St Elizabeth - A student/teacher delegation from St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) recently attended the 34th Model Organisation of American States (MOAS) General Assembly for High Schools in Washington, DC, USA.

The MOAS is designed to promote and develop democratic values alongside leadership and negotiating skills among youth in the Americas. At the recent exercise in Washington, students from the Americas explored issues affecting their hemisphere, regions and countries.

Two students of STETHS, Dominic Blair and Delion Bowes, were elected to the MOAS executive for the next assembly in November.

Vice-Principal Donna Hendricks who accompanied the delegation said the trip presented a "wonderful opportunity" to "boost confidence" as well as improve leadership styles among her students. It was also an opportunity for students and faculty to contemplate the varied problems in the hemisphere and help to propose and arrive at resolutions, she said
