Vybz Kartel charged with murder
Tuesday, October 04, 2011
INVESTIGATORS from the Major Investigation Taskforce (MIT) yesterday evening charged dancehall deejay Vybz Kartel with murder, conspiracy to murder and illegal possession of firearm.
A news release from the police said that the charges against the deejay, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, were made following the conduct of an interview yesterday afternoon by detectives from the MIT in the presence of his attorneys.
"The allegation is that on Monday, July 11, 2011, Palmer, along with other men, conspired to murder Barrington Burton o/c 'Bossie', a 27-year-old businessman/promoter of a Gregory Park address in St Catherine. Burton was murdered while he was standing with friends along Walkers Avenue in Gregory Park," the police release said.
A preliminary hearing will take place today at the Half-Way-Tree Resident Magistrate's Court, the police said.

WHAT DOES HIS BLEACHING HAS TO DO WITH HIS LEGAL ISSUES
10/4/2011
To "bleaching commentators", what does Karte's bleaching have to do with his legal issues
10/4/2011
My disappointment is on two fronts: Those that could even hint that this excuse for a man is innocent, and saying that the police must be lying because the report is talking about... "a body riddled with gun shot was found in a house that kartel use to frequent, now they change the story to man shot while standing outside..." but this is talking about his involvement in the 'CONSPIRACY' to commit murder . He has other charges which include murder, illegal firearm possession, etc. Please wake up!

@robert chang...not necessarily a lie...one can be shot in one place then dragged somewhere else

Teacher's Reject ...... LIME withdraws!
Seems LIME keeps wthdrawing from a lot of things.
10/4/2011
I'd be happy never to see that face, or hear that name ever again. Can do without his music too.
10/4/2011
Come on people. There is no allusion to the fact that the body found on his property is the same one he is accused of killing here. He could very well be a serial killer and these are separate cases. I dont think he is framed...all these Jamaican entertainers; including this pale face duppy think that they are above the law. I trust the law will take its full course and that the police will not conveniently mess up the investigation!!!
10/4/2011
@ robert chang. I can surely read your MIND-Set and its direction. First its three different INCIDENTS involving Vibes Cartel. One has been an on going INVETIGATION from July/2011 involing a murder in Gregory Pk. Second invetigation involes a burnt dead-body in one of his premises. And third busted of possesion of GANGA in a hotel in Kingston.
So for after investigation and Interrogation with his LAYWER present he was charged for been involved with the murder in Gregory Pk. Shut up an READ!
10/4/2011
@robert chang: How do you know that the body in the house is not separate case? Too much of a stretch for your imagination? There might be more murder cases ahead for this idiot.
.
I remember a few years ago when one of the other "killer" Entertainer was stopped by the police one night and he simply got out of the vehicle and left the scene with his car in the middle of the road. Nothing came of that incidence. Is our Police becoming too soft?

Mo Money, Mo Problems eeeeeh Kartel?
10/4/2011
just want to congratulate the commish and his team for an excellent job. can we now appeal to the media houses, the radio stations in particular, to reduce the kartel rotations. i think the directors should insist that their disc jocs do way better and reduce the number of kartel songs being played. our children need better role models. please let us use this as a good reason to start cleaning up the airwaves.

I have said it before that this is the best police commissioner ever. Now we jamaicans in diaspora can come home to invest in our beautiful Island. Keep up the good work Mr Ellington you may not Remmember me but I shook your hand at the airport when you were with the prime minister and I expressed my gratitude for your boldness. You are my HERO
10/4/2011
Cant everyone see that the police and investigating unit are lieing? I thought it was reported that a body riddled with gun shot was found in a house that kartel use to frequent, now they change the story to man shot while standing outside! I want to see who these investigators are, Im sure they were paid off to take down kartel...they're framing him.

Will Usain Bolt be there for his MUSICAL FRIEND that he IDOLIZED, and also promoted his music on the WORLD stage?. Now Usain what happens to the GAZA faternity that you're a part of, and always BIGGING UP? Since you're so CONSUMED with his music, and with your POPULARITY you should take over such. Why ! Jamaicans wont say anything NEGATIVILY. As long as you win 100 & 200 metres. No matter what your involments and negative exhibitions are. Its OK with us.

What kind of murder investigation find the murderers so quick??? this is really weird, it reminded me of my cousin in jamaica who got accused of theft spent years in jail and by the time the police found out he was innocent it was too late. This looks really shabby to me.
If this time kartel is found innocent and cleared I hope he see sense to move out of jamaica and spend his money elsewhere. none of the marleys live in jamaica.
10/4/2011
One question: Will he still be given access to his bleaching products if and when he goes to prison??Just asking...
10/4/2011
i wonder if he will also be the 'boss' or the 'teachas pet' pet in jail/prison. with someone with that much influence, he needs to use it to curtail the crime in jamaica, instead of promoting it.
10/4/2011
how them fi charge the undisputed king of jamaica, king of portmore, the teacha, who seems larger than life and above jamaican law? dem mad, or the law finally decide to clamp down on his voilence enforcer? well done
10/4/2011
I will see you in 50 years Kartel, I dont miss you, The cartoon today is funny, wait until he gets to prison it will be funny.
10/4/2011
When one is not happy in their own skin, it means you are a ticking time bomb and could exlode at any minute. I am not sure if Kartel did this or not, but what I do know is that if the JCF does not execute their job properly, this will be like trying to catch fish with bare hands..........It is time the JCF get serious in cracking murder cases. The best deterrent to murder in any country is knowing that one will be caught if murder is committed.

When you are not happy in your own skin, it means that you are a ticking time bomb and at any moment you could blow................

This bafoon bring our beautiful couture to a all time low.Having young beautiful black people want to bleach them skin.Marcus Garvey would burn this guy if he wer live today.this clown is a cancer to Jamaican society.Great job JCF.Rid the nation of this rot of trash
10/4/2011
This clown is one of the biggest “papi show” in the JA’s DJ business. It is sad that some entertainers are really associated with murderers and support criminality. They contribute so much negativity in the country in such a way that the security force should monitor them more.
10/4/2011
When the "music" on offer by these artists are commonly accepted by such a large % of people, it's an indictment on society i.e. where we are and where we are heading.
A measure of correction needs to take place if we are to win back a peaceful society and get our youth pointed in the right direction. Society needs a purging, once someone attains riches, by whatever means, they seem to get away with murder, literally and figuratively speaking.
10/4/2011
Man innocent until proven guilty but I guess, that's only some men. I thought the report said the victim was a "body found in one of the houses owned by Kartel" Now it's a man shot on the street in Gregory Park. What about the policies we were promised at the time of the X6 murder? SMH. We need a standard to follow (that applies at all times)
10/4/2011
thank you mr ellington in trying to bring back some civility to jamaica keep up the good work
10/4/2011
a long time them a behave like them is above the law and a do things to people in JA . root them out and punish them to fullest extent of the law
10/4/2011
Hope Waterford see some peace now.
10/4/2011

He appears in court for a couple of times; is offered bail the second time. The witnesses disappear. End of that. New business, than you very much.
