Water woes continue despite Ernesto rains
Wednesday, August 08, 2012 | 10:50 AM
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Residents of communities in St Catherine, Kingston and St Andrew, St James and St Thomas continue to be affected by water supply disruptions.
While most of the National Water Commission’s (NWC) supply systems continue to operate following the passage of Tropical Storm Ernesto over the weekend, some continue to be without the service.
Preliminary reports put the cause of the disruptions on the power supply failures due opt fallen service poles, trees on public supply lines or single phase power supply to a number of facilities, the NWC said.
Some of the areas experiencing disruptions are Linstead and Sligoville in St Catherine, Long Mountain in Kingston and Albion Heights in St Thomas.
The NWC said it is working to restore normal piped water supply in the shortest possible time.
