Weekend work to create delays on Junction Road
Friday, August 10, 2012 | 12:23 PM
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Motorists using the Junction main road in St Mary should expect delays in the vicinity of the Chovey community when using the route this weekend.
The delay will be due to the removal of a tree near the road as part of reconstruction work on the Westmoreland Bridge which was destroyed during Tropical Storm Gustav four years ago.
Users of the road, linking Kingston and St Andrew to the eastern end of the island and the north coast, will experience delays between the hours of 8:00am and 5:00pm Saturday and Sunday.
The bride is being built under the Jamaica Development Infrastructure Programme and will accommodate two lanes of traffic and two sidewalks for pedestrians when complete.
The project will take 18 months and costs $US13.5 million ($1.2 billion). It’s expected to be completed by August 2013.
