A post-mortem done on the body of the female found along the Port Royal road last Wednesday has shown that she was approximately 18 to 20 years old and was four months pregnant, the police have reported.
"The investigating team has collected several samples and have handed them over to the Government laboratory for DNA and other tests to be conducted," Superintendent Arthur Brown, commander for the Division, is quoted in a news release from the constabulary yesterday.
Police believe the woman was raped before her body was dumped and set ablaze in bushes along the road.
The body, which was found by firefighters who responded to a call about a bush fire in the area, was wrapped in a tarpaulin with the hands bound and a cord around the neck.
Police have not yet ascertained the identity of the victim.
