A Kingston woman was yesterday slapped with a one year prison sentence and a $350,000 fine after she admitted guilt in a cocaine case.

Police arrested Doreen King after they found 1.5 pounds of cocaine in the kitchen of her residence on July 17.

The drug was packed in two parcels.

Yesterday when King appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court she pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine, dealing in cocaine, importing cocaine, conspiracy to import cocaine, and using premises to store cocaine, before Magistrate Lorna Shelly Williams.

She was then sentenced to one year in prison for importing cocaine and was also ordered to pay $200,000 or serve six months for possession of cocaine and $150,000 or six months for using premises for the sale of cocaine.

She was, however, admonished and discharged on the other charges but if the fines are not paid, King will spend an additional six months in prison.
