DNA result in pastor's rape case ready by Nov 1Thursday, October 12, 2017
THE prosecution in the case against Kingston Pastor Kenneth Blake, who is accused of raping and impregnating his ex-lover's 12-year-old daughter, is expected to have his DNA test result on November 1 when the case will again be mentioned in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court.
The 56-year-old accused of Harbour View in St Andrew had consented to a DNA test to clear his name when the matter was brought before the court in August.
However, last Thursday, when the matter was mentioned, the prosecutor told the court that, except for the DNA result which should be ready by the next court date, everything was in place for the case to be sent to the committal proceedings.
The pastor of Harvest Temple Apostolic Church on Slipe Pen Road in Kingston was arrested and charged with rape, grievous sexual assault, forcible abduction, sexual touching, and sexual intercourse with a person under the age of 16 years old following allegations that he had sex with the child on several occasions in 2015, resulting in her getting pregnant.
It is further alleged that the pastor gave the teen, who is now 14 years old, cash and other gifts to keep the matter a secret.
Blake has denied raping or molesting the teenager.
Attorney for the pastor, Abel Don Foote, had also argued that the allegations against the pastor were borne out of malice and ill will from the minor's mother, who he alleged stole $300,000 from the church.
He further stated that his client was involved in a relationship with the child's mother, who was the church treasurer up to July this year, but that the relationship ended in early 2015.
According to Foote, the allegations arose after the pastor stopped supporting the mother financially and the alleged theft, which caused agitation among the congregation. He also indicated that several members of the church could attest to that.
In the meantime, Blake's bail was extended for him to return to court in November.
