Police discuss money with minister
Tuesday, February 09, 2010
JUNIOR Minister Arthur Williams will tomorrow meet with representatives of the Jamaica Police Federation to discuss wage claims.
Williams, who has portfolio responsibility for the public service, met yesterday with the members of the Federation at the ministry's National Heroes Circle office.
However, the discussions were shortened as Williams had to leave for a meeting of the Cabinet at Jamaica House.
"The meeting was being held at the request of the Police Federation, to discuss the seven per cent wage increase for 2009/2010 and other matters," a finance ministry release said yesterday.
The police were scheduled to get a seven per cent wage hike but Government has since announced a wage freeze for public sector workers because of a dramatic drop in revenues.
