Clean-up for Farquarh Beach
MILK RIVER, CLARENDON - Farquarh's Beach at Milk River in Clarendon - which has been slated by government for transformation into a major tourist attraction -- is to be cleaned up Recycle For Life today.
The Recycle for Life team, in conjunction with the Clarendon Chamber of Commerce, has scheduled the clean-up of the facility start at 8:30 am. In addition to members of the general public and the immediate community who will participate in the activity, US ambassador to Jamaica, Sue Cobb, junior minister in the Ministry of Industry, Commerce & Technology, Aloun N'dombet Assamba, and several other public and private sector representatives will participate.
All set for Portmore Week
PORTMORE, St Catherine -- A number of activities are scheduled to take place this and next weekend to mark Portmore Week, April 21 - 28 and Portmore Expo, April 26 - 28.
Activities will start this Sunday, April 21, with a church service at the Emmanuel Apostolic Church at 10:30 am.
Other activities include:
* Monday, April 22 -- Environment Day at selected schools
* Tuesday, April 23 -- Education Day, Greater Portmore High School
* Wednesday, April 24 -- Economic Development Day at Dermason's Restaurant;
* Thursday, April 25, community forum, Lion's Club Civic Centre at 7:00 pm;
* Friday, April 26 -- Portmore expo opens at the HEART Academy at 4:00 pm;
* Saturday, April 27 -- health fair at Christian Meadows Health Centre and sports spectacular at the Ascot High School.
An awards banquet will be held at Jewels Hotel at 7:00 pm on May 4, where several community leaders and dedicated residents will be awarded for their contribution to the development of Portmore.
