PM on official visit to Washington

Prime Minister P J Patterson left the island yesterday for an official visit to Washington DC.

Jamaica House said Patterson will meet with community leaders and members of the Jamaican diplomatic community during the visit.

The prime minister will also address the Jamaican community in Washington, at the Jamaica National Independence Gala tomorrow.

Portia Simpson Miller, the minister of local government, will be in charge of the government until Patterson returns to the island next Thursday.
