Arson suspected in $2m St George's College fire
Observer Reporter
Thursday, February 10, 2005

THE fire that destroyed a business office of the Jesuit Centre on the compound of the St George's College Monday night has left damage amounting to $2 million.

Last night the police said they suspect the fire was deliberately set.

According to the Constabulary Communication Network (CCN), investigating officers of the Allman Town Police reported that gasolene was found at the scene of the damage, leading to the arson theory.

The police say the damage is estimated at about $2 million.
No was arrested.

According to senior deputy superintendent of fire John Forester of the York Park Fire Station, a member of the clergy residing on the premises, who heard explosions and went to investigate, summoned them at about 11:24 pm Monday night.

The firefighters responded a minute later with two units from the department to extinguish the blaze.
