KINGFISH operatives were last night questioning a suspected financier of the notorious Gideon Warriors gang, who was nabbed yesterday attempting to leave the island.
The man, said to be a 40-year-old businessman, is from Cherry Gardens, an upscale upper St Andrew neighbourhood. He is suspected to have used his funds to help the Gideon Warriors acquire high-powered weaponry.
Police last night described the man as "a privileged boy gone bad", who had been schooled locally at Campion College. He is also under investigation for possible political links.
Last night, Kingfish spokesman Sergeant Steve Brown confirmed they were questioning a suspect, but could give no indication as to what charges might be laid against him.
He said, if nothing else, the man could be charged for an illegal passport he is alleged to have had in his possession.
The man's detention follows the triumphant announcement Saturday that Kingfish had captured the head of Gideon Warriors, Kevin "Richie Poo" Tyndale, who was hiding out in the quiet John's Hall community in rural St James after Kingfish had placed a $100,000 bounty on his head.
Tyndale, 29, had replaced Joel Andem as head honcho. Andem was captured last year by the police and is now before the courts on murder and other charges.
