| Pretty in pink as Bacchanal Road March revellers wend their way along Munroe Road. |
Carnival fever gripped Kingston Sunday, with thousands of revellers thronging the streets of the capital for two road marches, either as participants or spectators.
The colours of the costumes were strikingly brilliant, outdone or perhaps just matched by the fabulous enhancing body painted designs that set off some of the costumes. We saw feathers and fashionable faces, skimpy costumes, male and female, fun and yes, a whole lot of frolic.

| It takes a whole lot of skill to stand tall and walk, but this Bacchanal Carnival road march participant with the RJR Group float makes it look almost easy as the revellers make their way along Munroe Road. |
The revelry began somewhere between mid-morning and mid-day, so the sun was a constant companion, explaining the multitude of bottled water and water bottles that were on show as protection from the heat and dehydration.
We can't say, though, if revellers had taken heed of the message sent by carnival organisers to protect themselves in other ways, but common sense, we hope, would have prevailed.
