TECHNOLOGY Minister Phillip Paulwell has challenged businesses to lower the cost of personal computers to make them accessible to everyone.

The minister said although Jamaica was leading the way in information technology in the Caribbean, only 60,000 people have access to the Internet, and he also appealed to computer dealers to make arrangements with service providers so that access to the Internet can be sold as part of a package.

Paulwell, was speaking last week at the Department of Correctional Services community service and training complex at Lockett Avenue, Kingston, where the Reverence for Life Foundation presented the department with five computers.

Paulwell also suggested that the National Housing Trust, when selling its houses, provide a personal computer as part of the package.
