Reward for elderly Mandeville couple now $1 million

Friday, December 15, 2006

THE family of missing Mandeville couple - Richard and Julia Lyn - yesterday upped the reward for their return to $1 million. The reward, which is now being offered through Crime Stop, was initially $500,000, and will be paid out for any information leading to the whereabouts of the Lyns, a Crime Stop release said.

Yesterday, Maurice Lyn, one of the couple's two children, said the family was hoping that the increase would "generate more information".

The Lyns have been missing since last Saturday night. Their Ingleside, Manchester home was ransacked and several appliances as well as their two cars - a grey Toyota Rav 4, registered 2694 ES, and a grey Toyota Corolla station wagon, licensed 5540 EU - were taken.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Les Green said the police had received some calls, but none provided any significant information.
He said, though, that a stolen vehicle in a separate case had been recovered as a result of the phone calls.

"We're still trying to find the [Lyns'] vehicles, still trying to figure out where the property went...of importance is finding Dicky (Richard) and Julie Lyn," Green said.
