SPECIAL Corporal Charles Gordon who was shot in downtown Kingston on January 5, died in hospital yesterday, pushing to three the number of cops murdered this year, just over two weeks old.

Gordon had been in intensive care at the Kingston Public Hospital for 11 days nursing injuries caused by gunshot wounds to his neck and head.
The special corporal was shot and injured on January 5 at approximately 10:30 am while issuing a traffic ticket to a motorist at the intersection of King and Barry streets.

Gordon was taken to the Kingston Public Hospital where he was admitted in serious condition. According to ISCF Commander William Malabver, Gordon's condition had been steadily improving up until three days ago when it suddenly took a turn for the worst. Gordon's health then deteriorated until his eventual death at approximately 11:20 am yesterday.
"It put a gloom on all of us when we heard," Malabver told the Observer yesterday.

The other two cops murdered this year were Sergeant Huan Genus of the Clarks Town Police Station and Constable Ralston Ebanks from the May Pen Police Station. They were cut down by gunmen on January 2 in separate incidents.
