SOMERTON, St James - The seven-day search for retired British nurse, Barbara Jayne Scott, ended yesterday - Good Friday - when her body was fished from a sewerage pit at her home in this St James district.
It took the police, who were assisted by firefighters, more than seven hours to remove the corpse from the concrete-sealed pit, after receiving intelligence that she was dumped there.

The body had a fractured skull, believed to be caused by a blunt instrument. An on-the-spot post-mortem was performed by government pathologist Dr Murari Sorangi.
Scott, 61, who has been in Jamaica since January and was staying in this rural community, went missing last Friday.
In the meantime, the police have stepped up their search for Scott's lover, Omar Reid, a 30-year-old labourer whom they believe can assist them with their investigation into Scott's death.

Reid, the police said, has not been seen since Scott went missing.
"It is clear that there was an established relationship between Omar Reid and the deceased woman, Miss Barbara Scott. She has been in Jamaica for over 20 years. We are still appealing with Mr Reid to come in because we still need to speak to him," said Superintendent Steve McGregor, head of the St James police.
He also appealed to persons who may have information about Reid's whereabouts to pass it on to the police.

The police said that Reid, who is of a dark complexion and about six feet, four inches tall, is missing a few front teeth.
From as early as 7:00 yesterday morning, dozens of people gathered at the crime scene as the police and firemen moved into the area and began digging at the pit in search for the missing British woman.
Several at the scene expressed horror and disbelief when Scott's decomposed body was finally hoisted from the pit. Among them were the deceased's ex-husband Charlie Jones, and their daughter, Salina Jones Yildiz, who flew into the island after they were informed that the retired British nurse had gone missing in Jamaica.
"Scott's family is here and we are trying our best to assist them. We do emphatise with the situation they face, right now, we continue to assist them," Superintendent McGregor said.
Yildiz told the Observer earlier this week that she and her mother's two other children in the United Kingdom became alarmed after being unable to get their mother on the telephone since Monday.
We have been calling her repeatedly. and have only been successful in getting her voice mail," said Yildiz. "This is not like her to not return calls or not to keep in touch."
The distressed daughter said she got further 'danger signals' in the week after receiving a 'strange' text message from her mother's cellular phone.
"It was clearly not from my mother because it was signed B Scott and mommy would never write that. She would have written mommy instead of B Scott," she said.
Residents of Somerton said the late retired nurse was "a very nice and kind individual".
