MUSTARD Seed Communities, through Kingston Industrial Garage Limited, is offering two full scholarships to the Jamaica German Automotive School (JAGAS) to inner-city youths who wish to become technically competent in the motor vehicle service industry.
"The scholarships are being offered in commemoration of KIG's 100th anniversary as a Ford dealer in Jamaica and one of the oldest exclusive Ford franchises in the world," said a release from the Mustard Seed Communities. "In celebration, the company - through the Ford Foundation and its mission of poverty reduction worldwide - has innovated a proposal to sponsor a number of Jamaican youths to be trained in basic automotive technology."
The scholarships are being administrated by Mustard Seed Communities based on the organisation's humanitarian efforts in the urban inner cities of Kingston, St Andrew and St Catherine, through its community multimedia centre ROOTS FM and Zinc Link cybercafés.
Interested applicants should be at least 18 years old and have attained a minimum standard of secondary education at the grade nine level. Résumés should be sent to Mustard Seed Communities, 1 Mahoe Drive, Kingston 11 or e-mailed to radiokin@hotmail.com. They may also be faxed to 757-5195.
"Applicants must attend an interview Monday, August 18 at Mustard Seed Communities head office starting at 9:00 am," said the release.
Both scholarships cover tuition, uniform, lunch and a transportation allowance and are tenable over 18 months with career options including auto mechanic, automobile repairer and automobile electrician.
