MONTEGO BAY, St James - A heavily armed man, his guns spitting death, cut down a 14-year-old student and his stepfather in broad daylight yesterday along the tough King Street area in this northcoast resort city.

The dead student's 18-year-old sister, Pritania Malcolm, was last night battling for life in hospital, suffering from gunshot wounds she sustained in the shocking incident that took place at a hairdressing parlour owned by her parents.
Dead are Chad Malcolm, student and Jermaine Samuels, both of King Street in Montego Bay.

The police reported that the deadly attack occurred about 3:30 pm, moments after the young student left school and stopped by the hairdressing parlour.

The police did not immediately establish a motive for the killings and could not confirm residents' claim that more than one gunman was involved.

News of the incident brought scores of onlookers to the hairdressing parlour from where the grieving mother of the deceased had to be rushed to hospital for stress-related treatment.

Many marvelled at the ransacked bloodstained salon, a grim death scene that left more questions than answers.
The grieving crowd had to be contained behind the crime scene tapes by a strong contingent of steely-faced police.
At the nearby Madden's Funeral Parlour where the two corpses were taken, family members and friends who were a part of a large crowd, wept openly.

Coleen Allen-Smith, aunt of Chad and Pritania, could not contain her grief and had to be supported by a group of female sympathisers who converged on the funeral home.
"Me want fe see Chad. Me want Chad. Whey Chad deh?" she wailed.

Meanwhile, PNP caretaker for the North West St James constituency, Henry McCurdy, who was among the crowd, ruled out political violence as the motive for the brazen attack which claimed the life of his political worker, Samuels. But he lashed politicians for "failing to protect our citizens".

Yesterday's murder follows closely on the heels of the fatal shooting of 21-year-old Ryan James, a shop operator of Sign, Irwin in the parish. James was shot at his business establishment Tuesday night and died at the Cornwall Regional Hospital early yesterday morning.

Police said about 10:00 pm Tuesday a Toyota Corolla motor car drove up to James' establishment and the driver placed an order. As the order was being prepared, a passenger alighted from the vehicle and shot James before escaping in the car.
