| Bernanke... earned approximately J$17 million last year |
THE $38-million salary paid to the former governor of the Bank of Jamaica, Derick Latibeaudiere was higher than that paid to chairman of the United States' Federal Reserve Bank, Ben Bernanke, who last year earned US$191,300 (approximately J$17 million).
Latibeaudiere's earnings were, however, lower than that of governor of the Bank of England Mervyn King who earlier this year accepted a 2.5 per cent increase on his £295,000 salary (approximately J$43.14 million).
King last year rejected an approximately 40 per cent pay rise that would have seen him earning £400,000 (J$58 million) annually.
