Manchester schools receive Little Leaders kits

Friday, September 29, 2017

Early childhood institutions in Manchester received their supplies of Little Leaders learning kits from National Baking Company on Tuesday this week.

Teachers were beaming with joy as they collected the kits which are this year focused on math and science. The items in the kits include cube creators, alphabet and number lacing cards, abacuses, tweezers, magnifying glasses, and magnets.

It is expected that as children interact with these tools they will learn how to make real-life connections, express their ideas and thoughts more effectively, and will be well on their way to academic success in the primary grades.

The Little Leaders initiative was launched last year by National Baking Company Foundation under the patronage of National Chairman Gary “Butch” Hendrickson. The programme has been very successful, distributing almost 3,500 learning kits to approximately 125,000 children islandwide last year.

The programme will continue islandwide tours to facilitate teacher training workshops through its Training Wheels mobile classroom, as well as provide activity pages in the Jamaica Observer on Sundays.
