MANDEVILLE, Manchester — After demonstrating for most of the day, transport operators in this south central town returned to normal duties in late afternoon following assurances from the police.

A police source told the Jamaica Observer that the Police High Command in Manchester has agreed to meet with taxi operators today to discuss allegations of unfair treatment and excesses by police officers.

Chaos descended on Mandeville yesterday morning after taxi operators blocked the centre of the town with their parked vehicles.
