A policeman died in a motor vehicle crash on the P J Patterson Highway in May Pen, Clarendon, yesterday.

He is 30-year-old Constable Anthony Bailey.

According to the constabulary's Corporate Communications Unit (CCU), Bailey was driving his Toyota Corolla motor car along the highway when he allegedly lost control of the vehicle and crashed into an embankment about 5:15 am.

He died on the spot, the police said.

Acting Commissioner of Police Clifford Blake has since offered condolence to Bailey's family, friends and colleagues.

While expressing a deep sense of loss at the untimely passing of Bailey, Blake said that the “unfortunate incident has left us all in mourning”.

The Jamaica Constabulary Force Chaplaincy Unit and the Community Safety and Security Branch have been directed to provide support to the family and colleagues of the late constable, the CCU said.
