Trial of suspects in murder of woman cop pushed back

Thursday, October 05, 2017

THE murder trial involving an ex-police constable and a man who were charged in connection with the 2016 murder of Woman Corporal Judith Williams was Monday pushed back when the matter was called up in the Home Circuit Court. The case is now set to be mentioned on November 24.

The trial was pushed back because a third person who was recently charged in connection to the death of the policewoman is yet to settle legal representation.

Thirty-year-old Rohan Smith, otherwise called “Bull Dawg”, vendor of Phase 2, Seaview Gardens, Kingston 11, is jointly charged with the ex-policeman Gladston Williams, 27, and Jesse Anderson, 26, also of Seaview Gardens. They are facing charges of murder, conspiracy to murder, and illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.

Williams was shot several times by armed men about 6:30 am at a bus stop on Brae Street in Dunkirk as she made her way to work on April 28, 2016. She died a day later.

Williams is being represented by Attorney Peter Champagnie, while Attorney Leroy Equiano represents Anderson.
