MANDEVILLE, Manchester — Launched in September 1977, Barita Investments Limited this month marks 40 years in the financial services industry.

According to a company profile, the organisation was founded by Jamaica's first female stockbroker, Rita Humphries-Lewin, with a staff complement of one and $10,000 in capital.

Today, with eighty team members, Barita Investments and its subsidiary, Barita Unit Trusts reportedly manage over $30 billion of funds, and serve over 20,000 investors from its headquarters in Kingston and branches in Montego Bay and Mandeville.
