Manchester Chamber and police strengthen bond

Monday, February 12, 2018

MANDEVILLE, Manchester — With an aim to do more to assist the police, the Manchester Chamber of Commerce late last month officially launched a committee to support law and order in a more structured and diverse way.

Previous efforts by the business lobby group include relevant presentations at meeting and the establishment of the Police Motor Vehicle Repair Fund in 2016.

“…I say to our security forces and the honorable minister of national security, the private sector group in Manchester stands ready [to] give support where it is needed,” was the commitment of President Garfield Green at the launch, which took the form of a formal dinner at the Golf View Hotel in honour of police officers across the parish.

“Through it all, we are working to create a more effective, efficient and professional police force through training, capacity building, organisational strengthening, and community involvement,” he added.

Green said that, in ensuring that the partnership with the police is carried out in the way envisioned, his organisation has been reaching out and will continue to seek the support of others.
