Mandeville , Manchester — The Carnegie Foundation for Cancer Research recently donated a Braun Stimuplex HNS 12 nerve stimulator, a LifePak 10 defibrillator, and an ambulance stretcher to Mandeville Regional Hospital.

The gifts were valued at $1 million, according to a news release from the Carnegie Foundation.

Chief medical officer at Mandeville Regional Dr Everton McIntosh said the equipment and supplies would help the hospital with its diagnostic procedures as well as elevate the level of patient care.

Chief Executive Officer Alwyn Miller was thankful to the Carnegie Foundation, which he noted has been a consistent donor.

The Carnegie Foundation for Cancer Research is a non-profit, charitable organisation registered with the Government of Jamaica, which has been making contributions to cancer research at Northern Caribbean University and assisting, through donations, to hospitals and medical facilities operated by the Southern Regional Health Authority, including Mandeville Regional.

Individuals wishing to support cancer research may donate to the Carnegie Foundation through its account #854162837 (Mandeville) via deposits at any branch of National Commercial Bank, the organisation said.
