PEOPLE'S National Party (PNP) candidate for St Mary South Eastern Dr Shane Alexis has outlined a 12-point plan he is hoping to fulfil should he become the next Member of Parliament for the constituency. Below are the areas of focus:

1. With the support from the Jamaica Producers Group, Sports Development Foundation and the Constituency Development Fund the Gray's Inn Sports Complex and the Westmoreland Oval will be developed into first -class sporting facilities.

2. With the professional development of the candidate, concentrated efforts will be made to ensure the improvement of the Annotto Bay Hospital to a Type C facility.

3. Promote social harmony through major sporting activities such as football, cricket, netball, basketball and athletics.

4. Through the use of his professional network, a series of health-fairs will be held in the constituency to attend to the health of constituents and to encourage them to take their health seriously.

5. Agricultural lands owned by the government will be made available for residents of the constituency to venture into agricultural production for export and to supply the hotel industry.

6. A modern agriculture infrastructure will be developed and green houses will be promoted to produce crops for the hotel industry and to supply a local processing plant.

7. An agricultural cooperative will be established in the constituency and will be owned and operated by farmers but supported by the Member of Parliament.

8. The Castleton Botanical Garden will be fully developed as a tourism and family attraction through support from the Tourism Enhancement Fund and the Ministry of Agriculture.

9. Aggressive representation will be made to establish a business processing outsourcing (BPO) venture in the constituency to absorb the tremendous talents of graduates from Marymount, Annotto Bay and St Mary Technical High schools.

10. In order to facilitate the new economy, there must be continuous development of the road infrastructure in the constituency and special effort will continue to get the Junction Road properly rehabilitated.

11. Education is the fundamental means of transforming individuals in a society. It will be the major priority for the constituency and will see all the educational institutions being fully equipped with modern technologies to take our children into the 21st century.

12. In order to execute all the projects to advance the constituency, a non-governmental organisation will be created to help mobilise additional resources for the constituency.
